July 2011 Mission Event

HUMBLED

This was our church’s second mission trip. The first was also here at Salt to work on the Great House ceiling. On this trip our mission was to frame the rough openings for the installation of windows throughout the building. There were a few new crew members on this trip and as are all who come here, they were quite taken with the beautiful landscape and wandering wildlife. Atop the mountain and gazing upon God’s masterpiece, we just wanted to stop, rest, and commune with our Father. But we knew what God had brought us here to do, His work. So we dove right in and set in motion our organized plan. One of our team members, Dana, is a general contractor and he kept everything running smoothly for the rest of us.

After framing in the openings and exposing the wonderful view from the Great Room, we all understood why God had chosen this particular place for Salt to be built. The light shining in from the openings illuminated the wood work of the ceilings and revealed the hard work we had done the last time our group was here.

My trips to Salt are some of the best personal experiences I have with God Almighty. Every time I am there I feel His hand at work and He makes His presence known to me. From the people who run each event, to the Holy Spirit moving amongst us on the mountain, He is continually glorified as we work together with anticipation of what this place will be. God seems to capture every heart here and share His vision of a refuge for people struggling in their full-time service for Him. Here God is providing a place for them to recharge their batteries and allow Him to prepare them to go back out and spread His word.

At Salt I am personally reminded of God’s awesome power through His landscape and how clear the stars are in the night sky. The work may be far from done but through each heart God calls to work here at Salt, He is demonstrating his faithfulness to those who serve Him. With every hammer’s blow, each turn of our wrench and screwdriver, we engage in the battle with the enemy.

I am humbled by the opportunity to be a part of what is going on at Salt. When it is completed it will be a shining light atop a mountain top — a witness of God’s love.
